Within this age group children start to communicate verbally and non verbally using daily planning based around the children’s interests. Alongside room planning the children are encouraged to participate in many different activities through out the day.
Meal times are an important time of the day where we encourage children to develop their social skills through communication and independence, feeding themselves. We also introduce hygiene as they help their carers with hands and face cleaning before and after meal times.
As all rooms work closely together, when it is time to move your child through to the next room parents are introduced to the staff within the next room and informed of settling in times and dates enabling a smooth transition.
Our team within the room are on hand to start encouraging independence skills through their daily routine and recognition of their name and participating in small and large group activities such as circle times, story, singing times and small group games which will help your child build confidence and relationships with both peers and carers.
The layout of the room enables your child to move around freely from area to area accessing the many activities provided through out the nursery session.
Within this age group children begin to develop important stages, staff are ready to help support parents with children’s development, liaising together in partnership on the correct times to implement toilet training and possibly reduce sleep times. Through promoting self hygiene children are encouraged to brush their teeth after meal times and begin to wash faces and hands independently.
Through your child’s nursery day they will be happy and safe in a stimulating and caring environment.
Our Reception Room layout is divided into areas which interlink with the Early Years Foundation Stage, giving children the opportunities to be able to make their own choices. Children have easy access to all areas and equipment which is all at their level to develop their independence skills ready for when they take the next step on to school.
