The room is split into two sections which enables mobile and non-mobile babies to explore different activities for their age and stage of development and also has a separate nappy change facility.
Our Baby Room has a self contained milk kitchen where the staff can prepare feeds and meals and bottles are labelled and stored in our fridge until they are required.
Our babies are stimulated by our vast range of toys which are all age/stage appropriate and sensory activities are introduced to develop those eager little minds.
All our babies are bottle fed on our comfy settee, close interaction with a carer is vital for a babies sense of security. At mealtimes the babies are seated in high chairs or low captains chairs and we provide disposable bibs and face cloths for all mealtimes. Your baby’s daily routine will be discussed with you on our settling in programme and will be followed until your child reaches an age where our routine can be adapted.
Your child will be assigned to a certain member of staff within the room (key-worker) who is responsible for recording your baby’s development and who you can liaise with on a daily basis. A detailed report is given to you at the end of each day which records everything you need to know about your baby’s day such as foods they have eaten, sleep-times, play activities, nappy changes etc.
The staff plan suitable age stage appropriate activities for the children in accordance with the early years foundation stage. We use a large planning system which involves a next steps which helps us to plan for each child’s individual needs and interests. The children are given the opportunity to participate in all activities planned through out the day and will have staff assistants and support through out them.
We also have a large sensory area for the babies to get messy have fun and learn through their bodies, having several treasury baskets which we evaluate thoroughly to help enhance the children’s learning in this area. The staff will play an important role during the children’s learning play and development and provide the children with a fun trusting relationship whilst they interact with them, talking to them, cuddling them, laughing singing and simple facial features.
Babies are given a nutritious balanced diet which is all cooked daily on site by our nursery chef. Younger babies are catered for as they are given puréed fruit/veg before they are introduced to meats and other food substances. (Please refer to our menus for further details).
The children can move freely around the areas of the room and get involved in the activities they are interested in. The staff are based around the room in the different areas with the activities supporting the children through out their learning and play. We have a big emphasis on the children’s fine and gross motor skills which rapidly expand during this age group and our in depth planning system means we can plan for the children’s individual needs and interests, including lot’s of physical activities such as dancing, exploration and investigation. All the activities are planned in accordance with the early years foundation stage frame work which is used on a daily basis during observations of the children and the general planning and input to the day.
Our Toddlers have a sleep after their lunch on individual labelled beds and blankets so they are fully refreshed for the afternoons activities.
Mealtimes are a social occasion within this room and all the children are encouraged to feed themselves with the aid of the staff sitting close by. Children are given a variety of refreshments throughout the day which include fresh fruit and milk.
Our Toddlers have two outside play times where they can run around in our large exciting play area and can use the climbing frames and bikes as well as helping to feed and look after our nursery rabbit.
Our large and interesting Early Learner Room caters for children aged between two and three years old and has a 1:4 staff ratio. The room is split into two halves which have many different areas set up in accordance with the early years foundation stage. We use a next step basis to help during our large planning process which focuses on the child’s individual needs and interests.
The children have the opportunity to access the activities they would like to join in throughout the day and the staff are there to help enhance the children’s learning and skills. Through the low level displays around the room we start to introduce, numbers, colours, alphabet and shapes using interactive displays for the children to have fun and get involved with. Each child is allocated a key worker who is responsible for their development files and monthly observations. Key workers share information with the parents on a daily basis and at parents evening which we hold twice yearly.
As the Early Learners have a wonderful imagination we have an interesting role play area that we change each topic to link in with the theme. We also have a computer that the children can access each day with specially designed keyboards and programs for little fingers and inquisitive minds. The Preschool room is full of wonderful and exciting displays that include number, letter and shape and we have a colour of the week table, we encourage the children and their parents to see what they can find at home to bring in.
The children love Rufus Bear who is our travelling Ted, he has been on lots of exciting adventures with the children who keep a diary to share with their friends at circle time.
The children are encouraged to brush their teeth after meal times and become independent using the toilets as we follow a full potty training programme. Physical play is an important part of the children’s development; they love to do music and movement sessions and have lots of fun in the spacious garden. They also enjoys trips out into the local community visiting the library and feeding the ducks at the park.
Our spacious and educational Reception Room is based on the ground floor and caters for children aged three to four. We work on a 1:8 ratio and each child is designated a key worker on induction who is responsible for their development files and monthly observations.
As the children are preparing for their first days at school they have weekly P.E lessons to help the children become independent getting themselves dressed and undressed.
The Reception Room offers freedom of choice for the children to help develop their self help skills and independence. The room is set into many areas in accordance with the early years foundation stage, where the children can develop their skills with the help and support of the childcare practitioners in the room. They will support the areas building trusting relationship’s with the children. Our Early Years Co-Ordinator provides support to the staff and parents with their child’s learning, development and transition to school.
The children will also embark on a new reading scheme which is a fun way for the children to use pictures in a book to tell a story, this can be a bed time story at home and using the communication book we provide you can write comments about your child’s learning which will help the practitioners to enhance your child’s learning by providing a book that is of a good relevance to them.
The children learn about the local community and the world they live in including activities such as recycling, where we collect vegetable cuttings to make our own compost that we can use on our own vegetable patch. The children also enjoy trips out into the community and often attend the local library to have a special story time.
The children have 2 daily outdoor play times with activities available to ensure their learning journey is continued throughout their play. Outdoor play often gives the children further opportunity to build larger constructions and they make good use of the tubes, planks and ropes as they design, join and build.
All three year-olds are eligible to receive the government grant and there are many voucher schemes available to parents.
There are many low level displays which the children use their writing skills to label, we offer a wide range of resources for the children to use and enhance their skills.
